Extrajudicial killings (Jungle Justice)

Jungle justice or extrajudicial killings are not new, they are traceable to ancient laws that permitted such form of justice. It usually took the form of stone throwing or death by burning, depending on the crime committed. One can consider this a character of the uncivilized method of justice which lacked human rights in the manner we have today…Mob rule has become rampant in the Nigerian society. When people get hold of a criminal, they lynch them to death without taking them to the state security officers for necessary trial and court proceedings. Such act is also called extrajudicial killings or “jungle justice”….The recent Badoo boys lynching in Ikorodu, and the 2012 lynching of students in Aluu – River State are clear examples.
